Share The Gospel Regularly

The Gospel Is The Greatest Gift You Can Ever Give!

The Gospel (Good News) of Jesus Christ changes lives. People who are far from God do not know that God loves them and sent his Son for them unless someone tells them! Jesus himself saw the need.

When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

Matthew 9:36-37

People in your life need you to be bold and share the Gospel with them. This is the core of the practice “Invite”. We want to help you begin to share the Gospel in your daily life.

Here are some ways to get started.

Can I Explain The Gospel?

Watch this video in which Ben Markham gives tips on how to share the Gospel:

Practice Sharing The Gospel

After watching the video, read through the How To Know God Personally guide.

Now try to summarize the Gospel in your own words.

Can you explain it in a way that makes sense? You will notice that Ben’s teaching and the How To Know God Personally Guide are both organized around the letters GOSPEL. This can help you remember how to share the Gospel.

God created us to be with Him.
Our sin separates us from God.
Sins cannot be removed by good deeds.
Paying the price for sin, Jesus died and rose again.
Everyone who trusts in Him alone has eternal life.
Life with Jesus starts now and lasts forever!

If you are not comfortable yet watch the video a few more times and try again. Do this until you can share the Gospel easily and naturally.

Share the Gospel

The opportunity and invitation to make disciples was given by Jesus himself. In his final moments on earth he said:

“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Matthew 28:18-20

But how can you start a conversation about Jesus with someone you know?

My Jesus Story

The most natural way to begin a Gospel conversation is to share your Jesus story. It may go something like this

  • My life before Jesus was..
  • I came to Jesus because…
  • My life since becoming a disciple of Jesus is…

After sharing your Jesus story be prepared to share the Gospel clearly. Use the GOSPEL acronym as a guide.

What happens next?

If the person you share the Gospel with wants to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior, you can lead them in the prayer included in the How To Know God Personally Guide, or simply invite them to pray a prayer that includes the 4 A’s of Salvation.

4 A's of Salvation

  1. I ADMIT I have sinned.
  2. I ASK for your forgiveness.
  3. I ACCEPT you Jesus as my Savior.
  4. I ACKNOWLEDGE you as Lord of my life.

To Complete This Step:

  1. Create a list of three people that you would like to come to know Jesus. Pray over this list each day in your time with God.
  2. Share you list with a BGP (Big Godly Person) and ask them to pray with you for these people as well.
  3.  Write out and practice sharing your Jesus story.
  4. Practice sharing the Gospel using the GOSPEL acronym.
  5. Be bold to share your Jesus story and the Gospel with the three people you have been praying for.

This is a great way to be a part of the mission of Discovery Church, which is to “Make Disciples of Jesus!” If, after completing this step, you want more resources and practice in these areas please continue on to the step called “Learn How To Share Your Jesus Story with others”.

Think this might be the next step for you?

Have a Growth Talk conversation about it! A Growth Talk is a chance to discuss with someone else the step you are preparing to take.
