Pew Research Center Reports that only 58% of Evangelical Christians attend church service every week. Shocking? Maybe or maybe not, but as a Disciple-Making Disciple being consistent and faithful is incredibly important.
Think for a moment about a basketball team with 58% attendance at games.
Think of a team with coaches who show up 58% of the time.
If that is unthinkable for a high quality athletic team we hope it will be unthinkable for our community as well!
Why?
First, your own growth requires consistent time with others to Gather in worship, prayer and reading of God’s word. The Acts 2 Church was known for their consistency of Gathering together.
Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
Acts 2:46-47
Prioritize Gathering together at Discovery Church every week for the worship service and other times during the week as well!
Second, others are following your example! As a Disciple-Making Disciple, you are often leading others as “coach”. As you are consistent in your participation at weekend services and at The Gathering, you have more opportunities to lead those who you are discipling. Sometimes this will be by your example, sometimes this will be with your words, sometimes this will be with you listening ear.
Set a goal to attend the weekend services every week and the Gathering each time it is scheduled for a four month period. Even when traveling set a goal to participate through our online resources.
Have a Growth Talk conversation about it! A Growth Talk is a chance to discuss with someone else the step you are preparing to take.
